BEHIND THE BARD
The story of Shakespeare Vodka points back to the 8th century when the first vodka was distilled in Poland. But, it truly beings in 1601 when English actors came to Gdańsk while touring Shakespeare’s plays through Europe and discovered the spirit.
For over a half of a century, these actors kept coming to Poland to perform their plays and took vodka back to England with them on their return. Ever since, vodka and Shakespeare have been linked. This historical connection has inspired not just our name, but the poetic ambition with which we create our vodka. Like William Shakespeare himself, we believe that every aspect of life should be consumed with vigor and passion down to the very last sip.
Shakespeare Vodka, originally owned by Henry Ruchel, was taken over by our master distiller Mirek Wierzbowski who developed a passion for crafting fine spirits through founding two Polish distilleries. Like Shakespeare’s actors, Wierzbowski has taken his expertise in vodka from Poland and brought it across the world to create an extraordinary product handcrafted from specially selected American grains using state of the art technology. The result is an award-winning vodka with a clean, smooth and superior taste that encourages you to sip slowly and write your own story.
